Frequently Asked Questions
Section titled “Frequently Asked Questions”Can I use Podman instead of Docker? Yes. Podman is a drop-in replacement for most Docker use cases. It uses the same CLI syntax and supports the same image format.
Does Podman work with Docker Compose files? Yes. Podman supports Docker Compose files via podman-compose or the built-in Podman Compose. Most Compose files work without changes.
Why choose Podman over Docker? Podman runs without a root daemon, supports rootless containers by default, integrates natively with systemd, and generates Kubernetes YAML — making it a more secure and portable choice.
